A Lovely Cruise?
As I watched a TV news clip of the Navy hospital ship Comfort cruising to Haiti to help with the relief effort, my first thought was that the cruise lines (that also frequent Alaska in the summer) should send a ship (or three) to help house the injured and provide food and water and support for the relief crews as well. What a huge opportunity they have to save lives and do good-- as well as create goodwill for themselves and show they have indeed changed from the days of old when they dumped toxic waste in the waters off Haines. Guess what? Royal Caribbean has sent a ship to Haiti, full of vacationing tourists, because they say it is good for the Haitian economy.
