Summer Day Postcard
Last night I asked Chip if he had planned anything big, you know, like a trip to Italy for our 30th anniversary today. Then I looked up the gift for 30 years of marriage, so he could have a head's up. Imagine the grin when I read that this is the pearl anniversary. Guess we have that covered thanks to lovely puppy Pearl. You should know that there is a Farmer's Market tomorrow from noon-2, and a Lighting of the Library planning meeting at 4pm at the library. Also, Nelle still needs someone to pick up ice for the 4th of July picnic and people to set up and take down the tents. Call the library if you can help, at 766-2545. The KHNS fund drive continues so call and pledge at 766-2020 or go to KHNS.org. The Chilkat River is still really high at minor flood stage so be careful, and there's still 4ft. of snow at the measure stick on Mt. Ripinsky, but it's packed and you can walk it in regular shoes. Well, we had summer for two days, and even broke a record with 86 degrees on Saturday. (Now we are back to 55 and gray and windy. The climate does suit my clothes better, though.) It is slightly crazy around here for all kinds of good reasons, including Grandma Joanne's arrival today, and I promise I'll tell you all about the crazy solstice fireworks at Viking Cove, the perfect bike ride Sunday, and something sweet about our anniversary soon. In the meantime here's a summer day postcard.
