Juneau’s John McConnochie has cycled all day and night from Haines to Skagway (and through Haines Junction, Whitehorse and Carcross) covering the Golden Circle’s 360 -some mostly alpine highway miles in less than 24 hours– about 23 hours his crew informs me. That’s got to be a record, right? Yesterday’s southerly gale no doubt helped push John up and out of Haines at a good clip, and with any luck, the northerly filled in just as he pointed his bike down the Klondike Highway for Skagway early this morning. I bet it was cold up there though. There’s fresh snow on the mountains near Klukwan. What an accomplishment. I’m totally inspired. Congratulations!
