Glacier Glee?

At choir practice last night our director, Nancy Nash, said, "How about the Glacier Glee Club?" She has been trying to think of names for our women's chorus. "I like it, it sounds like an East Coast name." But Annie, who is from Maine, shook her head and said, "no, definitely not." And  the rest of us agreed. Although, really, I don't care what we are called, I just like the singing. "It came to me at the Salvation Army," (while she was going through rummage sale items) Nancy said. She still thinks we should wear matching scarves or hats. I like tiaras. You can see (and hear) us sing Sunday at 3:00pm for the annual Blessing of the Fleet at the boat harbor. (It is also Palm Sunday, next Sunday is Easter, so you may want to go to church for Holy Week.) Also, tonight and tomorrow night at 7:00pm some of our members are in "Bull in a China Shop" a very funny murder mystery play put on by Lynn Canal Community Players at the Chilkat Center.
In other news, the Haines Merchants lost against Angoon last night at the Gold Medal tournament in Juneau. They play Hydaburg today. The Merchants usually do okay coming up through the loser's bracket. It gives them a chance to practice, so we'll see. The Klukwan team lost a tough game against Kake. A memorial service for Tom Jackson will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Presbyterian Church. My gentle neighbor died earlier this winter, but the service was postponed until all his family could be here. And finally, the ferry leaves Haines at 12:30 today for Skagway, so it's still not to late to pack your skis for the Buckwheat Ski Classic.
