Off to Anchorage for Graduation

'Tis the season-- the home track meet begins this afternoon, tomorrow is the community-wide kick off for the pick-up-the-trash- that-blew-out- of-the-truck-shed-your hand- God only knows where it all came from-- and now has migrated to the brush, roadsides, ditches,  creeks, playgrounds, beaches, and vacant lots. Meet at the bank at 11 for "Cleano De Mayo"  Many hands make light work. It is also prom night Saturday, and this year has a 1920s circus theme. The junior class has set up the red and white canvas fair tent in the gym, I hear. The hooligan are also thick in the rivers and the sea lions and shore birds have arrived, and the Svensons are having their annual art show and open house Sunday afternoon out at their Mud Bay Road gallery, which means it must be spring. So it seems fitting to be attending a graduation this weekend. JJ and I will miss all the local fun as we'll be in Anchorage where she will be awarded her BA in education (she plans to be a kindergarten teacher) and I will receive my MFA in creative writing from UAA. (I already have the diploma, but JJ and I thought it would be fun to "walk" together.) Wish us luck. Talk to you when we return.
