I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

Well, looks like I spoke to soon on the new police chief hire. Apparently there was a heck of a meeting last night and the assembly decided to end salary negotiations with him after he called them narrow minded politicians, thieves and crooks, and compared them to used car salesmen. I guess it’s better to learn that’s how he really feels before he takes the job. If I could sing jazz standards like interim manager Julie Cozzi, I’d lead the assembly in “Fly Me to the Moon.” Since I can’t , I will offer this image of peace and tranquility, and urge you all to take a virtual vacation.
