I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

The bed is changed, the chickens are fed and watered, the plants are too, and I am all packed, the Blessed Virgin Mary medal is around my neck, and I am just about ready to catch the plane to Juneau on my way down south. (Really down south, not just Alaska-speak for every place below Ketchikan.)I will be in Greensboro, NC  reading from Find the Good at Scuppernong Books Thursday night, and at “The Gathering” women’s spiritual retreat in Raleigh at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church Friday-Sunday. ( I give the keynote Friday evening, and another talk Saturday, and will speak and do a Find the Good reading in between church services Sunday.) After that, I visit with Grandma Joanne in Ocala and some old friends up near Panama City before coming home. If you don’t hear from me until then, don’t panic, as no news is good news.  In the meantime, as my friend Becky says : be kind, be brave, and be thankful.
