After the first family knee surgery I lobbied for a downstairs bedroom. Then we had the second knee surgery and I said for sure, then I got hurt and spent months in a hospital bed in the living room, and swore the first thing I would do when I got better was add a ground floor bedroom, or at least a room with a door. (The house is basically one room, all connected.) But, we didn’t. And now Chip is sleeping in the window seat or out on the porch, so I figured he’d be all for this now, except I think he finds the controlled chaos a comfort. (We told the little nurses they had to be quiet and careful and the dogs have to stay off the window seat and clear of the crutches…) Chip did consult with the annual 4th of July Ripinsky Run organizers on the phone this morning. They asked if they should postpone due to wet, slippery trail conditions (rain today and more in the forecast for tomorrow) and he said, “in my present situation I’m more safety conscious than usual. So, yes.” We will see what develops. The rain is kind of nice and quiet here. After overdoing it a bit yesterday and the day before at work, Chip is staying prone at home today. Which makes me feel much better, anyway.
