I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

May I live this day

Compassionate of heart,

Clear in word,

Gracious in awareness,

Courageous in thought,

Generous in love.     -From John O’Donahue’s blessings

Zen poets talk about the moments when the writing reveals something spiritual, a voice from another room, or the wind maybe, or even the dog speaking with her eyes– and that just happened to me as I re-wrote this little blessing for you this morning. (Thank you!) As I looked at O’Donahue’s book, weighing the pages open with my phone, I typed, “May I love this day” as the first line. I didn’t notice until proof reading it, and then I corrected it, since those are my words (or whomever’s…) not his. But I kind of like that Angelic switch — don’t you?

May you love this day while you live it. (Or at least a few moments of it.)
