I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

“Where saints and angels dwell above,

All hearts are knit in holy love;

O bind in us that heavenly chain,

Give peace, O God, give peace again.”

— The hymn “O God of love, O King of peace” , words by Sir Williams Henry Baker, and others.

(This verse was first sung in the 1860s, during the American Civil War and Italy’s War of Liberation, and we are still singing it.)
