I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

Sweet baby James was born at 4:55 this morning. He came out yelling and he looks like his cousins, and everyone is just terrific. Labor was strong and swift and we are all very happy with the outcome and taking long naps today.  (I will fill you in on his vitals later, after all the kin have been notified. I cut the cord and don’t even know what he weighs, as he spent his first hours on his mother and father’s chests, bonding skin-to-skin. He does have ten fingers and ten toes, though, and appears to be long and lean. What a wonderful world.)
