“See how everything we have made gathers the light inside itself and overflows. A blessing.–Stuart Kestenbaum in his poem Holding the Light in The Wonder of Small Things: Poems of Peace and Renewal edited by James Crewes.
The power went out in Juneau before we woke up so we bumped around the house with headlamps and wished for a snow day, but the roads were plowed, and the storm has passed, and it turned out the lights were on downtown where the school and work are, so off the whole family dashed– a little rumpled and no doubt missing something– But I’m still thinking about what I found in the little lights ( human and battery operated) shining in the kitchen this morning– a blessing.
