I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

 Their silence can be one of their most endearing traits. Not muteness- absence of linguistic noise. There is no awkwardness in a shared silent moment with a dog- a gaze from the dog on the other side of the room- lying sleepily alongside each other.
