I live and write on Lingít Aaní, and gratefully acknowledge the past, present and future caretakers of this beautiful place, the Jilkaat Kwaan and Jilkoot Kwaan.

It is the morning after a good wedding and our own 29th anniversary, so here’s a verse from Leah Furnas’s poem, The Longly-Weds Know –

“That it isn’t about the Golden Anniversary at all,

But about all the unremarkable years

that Hallmark doesn’t even make a card for.”
