The wind has just not quit for several days. It’s making us slightly crazy– try biking into a southerly at 25 knots. (I hope it blows itself out by Saturday’s 25th annual Kluane to Chilkat International Bike Relay.) In the meantime, walking Pearl is a noisy, beautiful, whirl.
I love this place.
In other news, the recall petitions are in, and I believe you may read them on the borough website, but I’m not sure you want to. So there’s that. The assembly meets tomorrow night at 6:30 to pass the budget and finalize the manager’s contract. And Saturday night is the fishermen’s barbecue 4-9pm at the Fairgrounds, one the very best community events of the year, celebrating the local fishing industry. Sunday is the first gillnet opening and Father’s Day, and there is an evening concert fundraiser at the Chilkat Center, “Mimi’s Summer Serenade”, featuring Nancy Nash on the piano, Steve Tada on violin, and Mimi Gregg’s grand daughter singer Katie Saunders. It’s only about an hour and features a champagne reception. (Nancy says do not miss it!)
